Amidst the challenges associated with fibromyalgia, I've discovered the importance of self-care and self-compassion. It requires embracing vulnerability and realizing that it's okay not to be okay. Society often bases values on productivity and achievement, it's important that we redefine what success means and recognize the strength it takes to prioritize well-being over societal expectations.
Along this journey, I've also learned to appreciate the small victories—the days when the pain is more manageable, the moments of rest, and the joy that can be found even when there is difficulty. The strength and resilience of the mind and body is remarkable. To find beauty even in the time of adversity is not easy to accomplish. The more you have faith in yourself, despite what anyone else believes you'll find that victory is near. This doesn't happen overnight. Set a goal and walk towards it. If you could run then run. You set the pace, no one else.
Having support and understanding, even from a distance, means a lot to me. I am truly grateful and appreciative that my family is always here for me. I wasn’t sure if creating this page was helpful, but I am delighted to know I have a whole community standing side by my side. While I may not have communicated this portion of my journey openly until now, it's not because I wanted to keep it a secret. It's a subtle topic, and I've been sharing this journey of self-disclosure with care.
As I persevere through the ups and downs of fibromyalgia, I gain strength from meaningful interactions. Your presence, even if not physically, is one of support and community building. I decided to face the fear of judgment and share this part of my life, not for sympathy, but for understanding and learning about the health issues we have in common.
I wanted to express my appreciation for your presence in my life, no matter how infrequent our interactions may be. Life has its way of unfolding, and I'm grateful for the connections that endure despite the challenges. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and I hope it sheds light on a part of my journey that has remained veiled for too long.
With sincerity,
This Fibro Chick
